Ecotech Quebec, the Quebec clean technology association, contributed to a new video dedicated to Biothermica's landfill gas power plant, in operation since 1996 on the city of Montreal's closed landfill. Since its commissioning, the 25 MW capacity power plant has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by more than 10 million tons of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e) and produced more than 2 billion kWh of green electricity.
The cogeneration plant currently powers 5,000 homes in Montreal's Saint-Michel neighborhood and also heats the TOHU building located nearby.
